I've been running the FM13 for about two years now, mostly on regional hauls with mixed loads. The cab is comfortable enough, decent visibility and those seats are actually good for my back (which isn't always the case). Controls feel straightforward, not much hunting around for stuff. Only thing that bugs me is the electronics, especially in cold weather, sometimes takes a couple tries to get everything booted. The ride is smooth, doesn't bounce me around even when the roads are bad. Fuel consumption's pretty average, about as expected but nothing impressive. Maintenance is ok, not cheap, but not Volvo's worst either. Had one issue with the AdBlue system, cost me a day in the shop, not very fun honestly.

I spent a week driving the FM 420, mostly highway, some city and a few bad roads in between. First impressions - the air suspension seat is a blessing, you can mess with the lumbar and height, made my back hurt less by the end of the day. I liked the visibility, lower cab height actually helps, mirrors cover most blind spots but there's always that one angle missing. AC and heating are solid, though didn't get to try heating much here. Music system is there but speaker placement isn't the best. Door handles are oddly placed, keep reaching for the wrong spot. Climbing in and out is easy, steps are wide and grip well even in the rain. Rear bunk is decently spacious - not exactly hotel room but good enough to stretch out for a nap. As for service and parts, didn’t run into issues yet but Volvo has a decent network, at least in bigger cities. Wasn’t blown away by some of the plastics and small details, but nothing that ruins the experience. JK tyres seem reliable so far. Would love it if price was less but it's not shocking for this segment.

The Volvo FM's safety features definitely stand out. The truck's design prioritizes vision for drivers, a big deal in crowded urban areas. I noticed the active safety systems provide great assistance during tight maneuvers. However, while the technology is impressive, it might feel a bit much for drivers who prefer a more straightforward setup. Still, it's hard to argue with its solid Euro NCAP rating.

Driving the Volvo FM 450 has been a decent experience. The suspension system works well on varied terrains, offering a comfortable journey. The interior dashboard layout is compact and well-equipped but might feel a bit crowded for some. Handling is precise, though it could feel slightly rigid in specific scenarios. Maintenance-wise, it's manageable and doesn't seem overly demanding. As for its pricing, it aligns well with the features provided. It's a reliable vehicle capable of meeting expectations, with minor areas that might benefit from refinement.

I’ve driven the Volvo FM 450 for a decent number of trips now. Performance-wise, it's got the juice with the D11K engine. It handles inclines well, and fuel efficiency isn’t bad either. However, the cab can feel a bit cramped, especially if you're used to the FH. But the lower entry step, that's handy during frequent stops. Overall, it’s a solid option, but I wouldn’t pick this for extended trips.

I've driven a bunch of Volvos in the last ten years and just spent the week in the FM 450. The cab feels new, different shape compared to the old ones. Everything's compact around the dashboard, you can reach stuff without stretching. Liked that. Suspension could be better, it's "fine" but nothing too smooth on rough roads. Door steps are good for climbing in and out, especially after a long day. Noticed the view from the sides is pretty solid, can see both left and right without much hassle. One thing: radio and some switches are a pain to get used to at first, not super intuitive. Haven't had any major issues so far, so reliability seems ok but only time will tell. Not the cheapest out there but not overpriced either, just middle of the road all round.

Ran an FM 450 (D11K 450) for regional/national work and yeah it sits in the FH’s shadow, but it’s not some cut-down misery wagon. The motor is the real point here. Pulls strong in the low/mid revs and the I-Shift mostly keeps it right in that 1100-1400 rpm zone, so it doesn’t feel like it’s hunting gears all day. Fuel use is properly low for a 40-tonner, you can see Volvo aimed this truck at running costs.

Cab wise… it’s the FM thing: same general shape as FH but you feel the space loss. That big engine tunnel eats room, and if you actually plan to live in it, you’ll notice. For solo overnights it’s fine, but it’s not the FH kind of roomy. Also the moved I-Shift controls on the dash are a bit of a reach, not my favorite.

On the road it’s easy. Steering is smooth, cabin suspension is dialed in, and it’s quiet inside, which matters on long days. Only gripe I had was the front end on that single-leaf setup; it saves weight, sure, but it doesn’t react as nicely as the two-leaf. Also you’ll pay some AdBlue, that setup likes it.

Overall it’s a work truck that drives clean and keeps the fuel card calmer, just don’t expect FH-level cab luxury.

I've been behind the wheel of the Volvo FM 450 for a while now. The unique design of its cabin caught my attention-very functional, though it might take some getting used to for folks not familiar with this setup. The controls are intuitive enough but not exactly groundbreaking, though they get the job done effectively. The ride comfort is commendable, especially over longer trips. The pricing feels reasonable for the package offered. Maintenance hasn't been too demanding so far, which is a positive. Overall, a solid truck choice with room for slight improvements here and there.

Having spent a week with the Volvo FM 460, I found it quite reliable. The manual gearbox is decent, though I did notice the ride felt slightly less smooth compared to some others, possibly due to its suspension setup. The cab arrangement is fairly intuitive, but I wish the door could open slightly wider for easier ingress. Overall, the experience was positive.

Drove the updated FM for a couple weeks. So the driving position is proper comfortable, everything sits where you reach for it, and you don't have to twist or stretch. Controls are simple, and the new dashboard isn't overcluttered, so you don't lose time looking for stuff. Really appreciate the grip from the anti-slip mats on the floor, whoever came up with that idea, thanks. Ride is decent, the truck handles smooth enough, but honestly I still get a bit of glare off the screens in bright sun, and the touchscreen sometimes needs a second tap. Maintenance is about what you'd expect for a new Volvo, not cheap, but at least you get proper access to dealership service. Fuel economy feels a touch better but can’t say for sure just yet. Cabin is solid, and it’s got enough space for a mess of gear, which I personally need.
